16. Neurotoxizität

Zusammenfassung

Bei der Behandlung maligner Erkrankungen können unerwünschte Wirkungen wie die Neurotoxizität kurz- und langfristig die Lebensqualität des Patienten wesentlich beeinträchtigen. Neurotoxizitäten können sowohl reversibel als auch irreversibel sein. Die Pflegenden können durch gute Beobachtung der Patienten und deren Beratung dazu beitragen, dass neurologische Symptome frühzeitig erkannt, medizinische Maßnahmen daher rechtzeitig eingeleitet und somit Neurotoxizitäten vermindert werden können. Kommt es dennoch zu irreversiblen neurologischen Schäden, können gezielte pflegerische Interventionen und die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Disziplinen, z. B. der Physiotherapie und Ergotherapie, den Patienten die Aufrechterhaltung von möglichst vielen Aktivitäten des täglichen Lebens ermöglichen.
