17. Atemnot

Zusammenfassung

Krebsbetroffene beschreiben Atemnot als „bekomme nicht genug Luft“, „bin kurzatmig“, „ersticke“, „brauche mehr Luft“. Leider bleibt die Wahrnehmung dieser Symptome durch Angehörige und Fachpersonen oft auf die terminale Krankheitsphase beschränkt, obwohl sich schon früher sinnvolle Maßnahmen treffen lassen. Trotz der Fortschritte in der Krebsbehandlung und Studien zu ihrer symptomatischen Behandlung bleibt Atemnot ein schwieriges und schwer zu linderndes Symptom. Bei Atemnot nehmen pflegerische und nichtpharmakologische Interventionen eine wichtige Stellung ein. Die Aufgabe der Pflegefachpersonen besteht im Erkennen und Erfassen der Atemnot, dem Umsetzen von lindernden Interventionen und Therapien sowie der Beruhigung und Begleitung der Betroffenen und ihrer Angehörigen.
